OSHA has specific requirements for using safety
signs to make sure hazard warnings are easy to recognize and don't
vary from workplace to workplace.
Understanding safety signs and
the hazards they caution us about can help avoid injuries and
prevent death. General safety signs including first-aid signs,
fire safety signs, enter or exit safety signs, and construction
site safety signs are valuable tools to decrease the accidents,
but may not be a substitute for high-quality safety procedures
or training. Specific safety signs are used just for biological,
chemical, electrical and radiation hazards to alert employees,
clients or general public to the presence of serious hazardous
exposure.
